The objective of the group is to increase members’ understanding of current affairs.
The idea is that participants present their understanding and comments on a significant
Economist article or report which will then be discussed by the group. To enrich
understanding, the speaker is encouraged to go beyond the article. To start the group off,
the presentation should last for up to forty five minutes.
We aim to meet three monthly in the flesh though members may from time to time contribute via Zoom and the meetings will last 90 minutes max. PowerPoint or equivalent will be available if required.
The first meetings will take place in the Convenor’s home in Bathford, reached by up to seven
bus routes (!) and with parking, though the location of subsequent meetings will be up to the
members. Initially there will be up to twelve members and again that will be subject to review
as we gain experience.
Interested members are invited to contact the Convenor, Peter Martin, via the Enquiry link at the top of this page. Non-members should contact the Groups Advisers for more information.
