Membership Fees
Welcome! Our annual fees are shown below. Our membership year begins on the 1st October. New members joining between 1st April and 31st July pay half the annual fee. Anyone joining from 1st August onwards pays the full annual fee but need not renew until 1st October the following year. We encourage new members to opt to receive newsletters by email rather than post. It is cheaper (postage adds £30 to your annual membership fee), is less work for our volunteers, and is also kinder to the planet!
Gift Aid - If you are a UK taxpayer, and pay more income tax and/or capital gains tax than the amount of gift aid claimed on all your donations in one tax year, Bath u3a can reclaim tax equal to 1/4 of your subscription at no cost to you. Gift Aid really helps to keep your subscription as low as possible.
NB Membership includes a Bath u3a Newsletter 10 times a year, plus the national u3a Matters magazine 5 times a year

New members - How to join
Option 1: Join online
Joining online is the quickest and easiest way to become a member of Bath u3a. Our online system uses PayPal to process payments securely, but you don’t need a PayPal account, you can pay using your Credit or Debit card. You’ll receive a Welcome Email with your membership number which you should keep in a safe place - you may be asked to show it at meetings (on your phone or printed out).
How to pay by debit or credit card:
Read our Online Membership Application Payment Helpsheet or follow these instructions:
- Click on the Join Online button above. Complete the application form and click on Make Payment.
- After pressing the Make Payment button, you will be taken to a screen entitled 'Log in to PayPal'. Ignore the top two thirds of the screen and instead scroll down to the bottom and click on 'Pay by debit or credit card'.
- This takes you to a form where you fill in your billing details - at the bottom of this form is a button called "Save information and create your PayPal account" - if you do not want to open a PayPal account MAKE SURE YOU UNTICK THIS BOX.
- Click on "Pay now as guest".
- You may be asked to authorise the payment through your banking app or by text message.
- A confirmation that your payment has been accepted will be shown.
- Click on Return to Seller, then click on Return to u3a in Bath website.
- You will be returned to the Bath u3a website and receive confirmatory emails from Bath u3a and PayPal.
After joining you will receive a confirmation email from Bath u3a that your payment has been processed successfully. You should also receive an email from PayPal acknowledging your payment. Please ignore the invitation to open a PayPal account.
Option 2: Join by submitting an online application form
Submit the form online and pay by bank transfer (BACS) or by posting a cheque.
Option 3: Join by post or at a monthly meeting
If you would rather join by post and pay by cheque or by bank transfer, you will need to download and print the Membership Application Form and send it with your cheque to the Membership Secretary.
Alternatively you can bring the completed application form to a monthly meeting and pay by cheque or debit card for contactless payment.
