Short Novels Reading Group 1

Status:Active, full but can join waiting list
Convenor:
When: On Tuesdays 2:00 pm
2nd Tuesday of the month
Venue: Central Bath

The "Short Novels" reading group 1 is a friendly discussion group which considers short works of fiction which could be read in one to three sittings.

Definitions are not always precise and the boundaries may be hazy between short novels, novellas and longer works but our focus is on a discrete work of fiction which is no more than 200 pages in an average-sized paperback.

Many notable works in this category of "Short Novels" are rewarding to read and discuss but do not take an excessive amount of time to get through.

The agenda for the coming months is decided in advance by agreement among the members and new suggestions are always welcome. The following titles are among those which have been considered at recent meetings:

 The Pearl John Steinbeck
A Month in the Country J. L. Carr
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie Muriel Spark
 Silas Marner George Eliot
One Day in the Life Of Ivan Denisovitch Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
 Breakfast at Tiffany's Truman Capote
 Orbital Samantha Harvey

One short work of fiction is considered at each meeting.

We  welcome enquiries from interested members. If you would like more information, Bath u3a members can contact the Group Convenor via the Enquiry link at the top of this page. Non-members should contact the Groups Advisers for more information.
