At a time when the world stood on the brink, women answered the call in extraordinary ways, often undertaking dangerous and demanding roles that have received too little recognition.Through moving personal stories, letters, photographs and accounts of courage under unimaginable circumstances, this talk reveals the human experience behind the history. It tells of women who endured hardship, faced impossible choices, and, in many cases, gave their lives in the service of others. Their stories are not simply tales of war; they are stories of duty, resilience, friendship, love, loss and extraordinary courage.

Inspired by the acclaimed Tomorrow to Be Brave exhibition and the commemorative service at Bath Abbey, Anita St John Gray, Vice Chair of the Royal Commonwealth Society in Bath, gives us a moving account of these remarkable women and the research that went in to uncovering long-forgotten bravery.
