January Talk - Norland Nannies

Time: 10:00 am
Venue: Bath Pavilion

by Elizabeth Harvey, Norlander and Events Manager at Norland

This talk will cover the conception and growth of Norland, from its founding by Emily Ward to the present day. In 1892 the educational pioneer Emily Ward created Norland as the first educational establishment in the world to offer childcare education and training and it has shaped best practice in early childhood education ever since. Students from around the world study for Norland's BA (Hons) degree in Early Childhood Education and Care and the prestigious Norland Diploma, a unique qualification which teaches the practical skills it takes to become a graduate Norland Nanny. Norland's training strives to ensure graduates are recognised as competent, highly trained professionals who place children at the centre of their practice. Elizabeth Harvey trained as a Norlander and, after gaining extensive experience working with children and families in a variety of settings, returned to Norland in 1998. She has since held a range of roles, most recently as the Events Manager overseeing all in-house events, including graduations at Bath Abbey.
